NEW BRAUNFELS, Tex. — March 5, 2026 — Schlitterbahn New Braunfels on Wednesday unveiled Wasserbahn Racers, a new high-speed face-first mat racing attraction debuting for the 2026 season. Designed for fast-paced competition and splash-filled excitement, the three-lane racer will headline a landmark year at the world-famous waterpark and rolls out notable enhancements across the property. Built into the park’s natural hillside near the Comal River, Wasserbahn Racers takes advantage of Schlitterbahn’s iconic Hill Country landscape to create a visually stunning, naturally integrated ride experience.
New in 2026: Wasserbahn Racers
Developed by WhiteWater, a global leader in water attraction design, Wasserbahn Racers sends riders sprinting down a newly crafted three-lane course that builds speed through a series of dips and chutes before a signature Schlitterbahn splashdown.

278.6 feet of racing length
37.6-foot elevation at the start
Top speeds of more than 24 mph
Real-time stopwatch clock that makes Wasserbahn Racers the only mat racing attraction in Texas where guests can see their results the moment they cross the finish line
A competitive layout built for big splashes and even bigger bragging rights
Set into the park’s natural Hill Country terrain near the Comal River, the attraction is uniquely built along the property’s sloping hillside, giving riders sweeping views and a scenic, authentically New Braunfels backdrop as they race to the finish.
A Big Year Ahead at Schlitterbahn New Braunfels
“Wasserbahn Racers will be a highlight of a big year for Schlitterbahn New Braunfels,” said Justin Loehr, park manager at Schlitterbahn New Braunfels. “Generations of families have built memories here, and the park is excited to introduce an all-new attraction while continuing to enhance classic favorites across the property. 2026 Park Enhancements
The 2026 season will also introduce improvements across several areas of the park, including enhancements to the resorts, Blastenhoff Tower, Han’s Hideout, the Submarine and Octopus slides, the Pirate Ship at Surfenburg and additional improvements across Schlitterbahn’s themed areas.
Unveiled With High-Speed Style
Wasserbahn Racers was revealed earlier today during a construction-site preview for media and community partners. The high-energy announcement featured an eye-catching lineup of Vipers, Ferraris and other exotic racecars, setting the tone for the park’s newest racing attraction. Attendees viewed new concept renderings and design details, and Schatze, the park's mascot, made a special appearance in race-ready gear.
Opening Day
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels opens for the 2026 season on May 2 and season pass holders will be the first to ride Wasserbahn Racers. The attraction will open to all guests shortly after.
Season Passes
The 2026 Season Pass includes unlimited visits to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and Schlitterbahn Galveston, plus admission to all Six Flags theme parks and Hurricane Harbor waterparks in Texas, as well as Hurricane Harbor Oklahoma City and Frontier City.
