Ride mechanics and electricians assembling coaster vehicles as New Jersey's most anticipated new thrill ride moves closer to testing

JACKSON, N.J. — October 2, 2026 — Six Flags Great Adventure has announced a significant construction milestone for Bakunawa, the park's highly anticipated new coaster, as assembly of the attraction's ride vehicles is now underway.

Park teams are currently assembling nine of the coaster's 10 ride cars, with the remaining vehicle already completed and on-site. Once finished, Bakunawa will operate with two five-car trains, including a striking green train and purple train, both designed to deliver an immersive and thrilling guest experience.

"Train assembly is one of those exciting milestones that brings a coaster to life," said Ryan Eldredge, Director of Sales and Marketing at Six Flags Great Adventure. "Guests have followed Bakunawa's progress from the earliest stages of construction, and seeing the ride vehicles come together is another visible sign that we're moving closer to the next phase of the project."

Each coaster vehicle consists of a ride chassis topped with a fully assembled seat gondola. The assembly process, which takes approximately one week per car, is being completed by Six Flags Great Adventure's ride mechanics and ride electricians working together to prepare the attraction for the next major step in development.

"Behind the scenes, our teams are meticulously assembling each vehicle to ensure everything is ready for installation," said Steven Kolczynski, Construction Manager at Six Flags Great Adventure. "Once assembly is complete, the next stop is putting the trains on the track."

The completion of train assembly will pave the way for vehicle installation and subsequent testing activities as work continues on the record-breaking attraction.
